Breeds

GCCF have adopted a new breed numbering system. See the  PDF document link below.

Guide to GEMS

Please note the breed number used below are still in circulation with cats registered before the new system started. Any cat registered now will use the new GEMS Codes as mentioned above.

Havanas, Lilacs and Whites were the first Oriental breeds and already had breed numbers when the other Oriental breeds were recognised; they therefore retained these numbers.

Oriental Havana

Excluding the Havana (29), Oriental Lilac (29c) and Foreign White (35) the numbering is quite simple:
37 – (a,d,f,fn,k,n,r) Selfs  (non-agouti, non-silver)
37 – (e,g,h,j,m,p) Torties (non-agouti, silver & non-silver)
38 – Spotted Tabby (agouti, silver and non-silver)
41 – Classic Tabby (agouti, silver and non-silver)
42 – Smokes (non-agouti, silver)
43 – Shaded (agouti, silver and non-silver)
44 – Mackerel Tabby (agouti, silver and non-silver)
45 – Ticked Tabby (agouti, silver and non-silver)
48 – Bi-Colour Shorthair
49 – Bi-Colour Longhair
62 – Longhair

Each number is followed by a letter (or two) which designates the colour and/or pattern
